DYLAN – everywhere

The one disc version of the new DYLAN album (including the Most Likely 2-track CD single) is available everywhere on my retail rounds – I’ve seen it in all the major supermarket chains, priced just under £10.

Surprisingly, my local ASDA supermarket also has the De Luxe version of the 3CD compilation in the deep red velvet box, priced at £24.97. Nice looking artefact – tempted, but I passed: why would you pay £25 for packaging?

Martin Cowan seems similarly unpersuaded:

“There are reviews for the new Dylan compilation in both UNCUT and MOJO - both equally underwhelmed by the song selection, which Sony claim was as the result of "impassioned pleas" from fans on the Dylan07.com website but really was quite obviously the selection of some tone-deaf committee of soulless suits.

“This is a near identical selection to the Essential Bob Dylan 2 disc set - 30 of the 36 tracks on Essential are on the new Dylan set.

“There's usually an autumnal treat for Bob fans but it looks like there won't be one this year.”
